Ebony Counseling Consulting and Supervision (ECCS)
An Anchorage based practice specializing in providing mental health counseling to adolescents, adults, couples and families with empathy, care and compassion.
Ebony McClain, Ph.D.I moved to Anchorage, Alaska, from Chicago, Illinois, in 1993, to attend college and for a change of scenery and new experiences. It was my intention to stay for one year to see if I liked Alaska and thirty-plus years later, I remain, as a business owner and a mother with a host of beloved friends, family, and colleagues.
I have been in the field of mental health in Alaska since graduating with a Bachelor's of Elementary Education degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1999. I began my work in 1999 with AK Child and Family as a psychiatric treatment counselor, working with children, adolescents, and their families. That same year I began work with Anchorage Community Mental Health as an outpatient clinical associate and intake screener. I worked with both agencies simultaneously for a period of six years. My experience continued to grow, as did my education. In 2006, I graduated with a Master's of Science in Community Mental Health (clinical counseling adolescent and family track) from Southern New Hampshire University. I continued my work in the field as a behavioral health specialist for Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center (ANHC.), where I spent time serving as a therapist to a diverse population of individuals and their families. While at ANHC, I was fortunate to work with women in abusive in relationships, homeless populations, individuals struggling with opiod dependence, as well as individuals suffering chronic medical illness. In 2009, I began outpatient practice with Good Samaritan Counseling Center, while continuing my contract with ANHC and pursuing my doctoral level education. Discovering that I wanted to continue to grow my skills and my experience, I decided to leave Good Samaritan Counseling in 2010 and join Bridges Counseling Connection, where I resided for five years. During my time with Bridges Counseling, I earned my Ph.D. in Psychology from Capella University and received a post-doctoral certificate in Industrial Organizational Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I also became an Assistant Professor of Psychology with Alaska Pacific University, became a supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors and doctoral candidates and a consultant to two non-profit agencies within the Anchorage bowl. I am currently elated to continue to serve the community through my own practice; Ebony Counseling Consulting and Supervision, where I provide therapy to adolescents, adults, couples and families with empathy, care, compassion, and a side of humor! In addition, I provide Co parenting Facilitation Services, Divorce Coaching, and Consulting to local businesses in the area of diversity, equity, and inclusion among other employee challenges. I am also excited to be a part of the Alaska Psychological Association, serving as the Diversity Chair for its Board of Directors, as well as the President of the Board of Directors for the Women's Power League of Alaska. I look forward to working with you! Sincerely, Dr. Ebony McClain P.S. I am currently offering telehealth services, but occasionally see clients in office for trauma related services (e.g. EMDR and hypnotherapy). I am licensed in Alaska, Arizona, Oregon, and Texas |
